Important info for riders

Welcome to the 2011 Peter Stevens Motorcycles Victorian Road Race Championships, conducted by the Preston Motor Cycle Club on behalf of Motorcycling Victoria. Includes Junior Vic Series & Vic Metrakit Series.

2010 was a successful year for the VRRC. The introduction of a new race format in 2010 allowed for many competitors to cross enter their machines, get more rides in the competition and better value for money. The Preston Motorcycle Club & Motorcycling Victoria are committed to developing the series to the benefit of all competitors.

2011 has seen an increase in costs, including track hire.  To avoid a huge increase in entry fees, a sponsorship agreement has been entered into with Pirelli.

Superstock 600 Pirelli Supercorsa SC Control Tyres

To help competitors keep costs down a Control Tyres for the Superstock 600 class has been introduced. Pirelli is partnering us to deliver cheaper tyres for the class. But as most competitors cross enter into a second class it was decided not to limit the number of tyres over a weekend. Also if competitors do not wish to use the Pirelli Control Tyre they can still enter Supersport C Grade and Open +500 classes without restriction.

The Pirelli control tyre will be available at the track and from selected outlets at a discounted price of $550.00 a set fitted. SW Performance will be at the track to supply the tyres. Check out the Preston MCC forum site for more outlets giving the discounted price coming soon.

 Preferred Supplies;

SW Racing at the track,
Dynoverks in Boronia,
Stafford Motorcycles in Heidelberg,
Bikes Plus in Essendon North,
Brighton Bikes & Bits in Brighton,
Slingshot Suzuki in Shepparton.

The use of the Control Tyre will be reviewed at the end of the season to gauge its success or not.

Pirelli Supported Classes (Up Dated)
Pirelli has also offered the highest placed rider on Pirelli tyres in the Superbike, Superstock 1000, Vic BEAR's, Open +500cc,  Supersport and Period 6 classes per round a new set of tyres. The riders just need to register on they entry form that they are running Pirelli's and have Pirelli stickers on the front of their machine. These classes do not have a control tyre rule but Pirelli are keen to support them all the same.

Winton Round
The Winton round of the series has been moved to mid April to allow for the chance of better weather at this event and improve racing conditions. This was the only round last year to run in the red because of the high track hire cost and low entry numbers. All other rounds will be held on similar dates to last year. Also we have kept the entry fees at a similar level to last year by gaining more sponsors.

Traders Alley
The introduction of a Traders Alley at each round is hoped to gain more interest from possible sponsors by bring them to the track and you. We have already had quite a lot of interest and hope this grows into something that will benefit the riders and public. Any traders wanting to join in can contact Sue Edwards via email at secretary@prestonmcc.com.au or phone 0393723388 or 0408 488353.
